HomeMy WebLinkAbout2024-07-17 MASON COUNTY LODGING TAX ADVISORY COMMITTEE Meeting Minutes 411 North 5t"Street,Shelton,WA 98584 Wednesday,July 17, 2024 9:00 a.m. Meeting was held hybrid—in-person and via Zoom. Members in attendance: Chair Sharon Trask, Rachel Hansen, Duane Wilson, Deidre Peterson,John DeLeva, and Greg Oldham. Absent: Shaun Tucker Chair Trask called the meeting to order at 9:04 a.m. Approval of Minutes Rachel/John moved and seconded to approve the April 17, 2024 meeting minutes. Motion carried. 2"d Quarter Reports Rachel Hansen presented the 2"d quarter report for Northwest Event Organizers (NEO). Key topics included statistics, Shelton hotels and motels,website visits and website referrals, online social integration,Seattle MET and Portland Monthly marketing, tourism calendar, advertisement examples, social media posts, pageviews,Tracing the Fjord issues, 2"d quarter events, 3rd quarter project goals, Wild Side app, and Slide app. Jeff Slakey discussed the Slide app—explorehood.slide.travel. Showcases events,full and recommended itinerary... PWA presentation, both apps are also web-based. Potential launch date is a month out. Brief Commissioners in September. Liz Arbaugh presented the Historical Museum's 211 quarter report. Key topics included visitor numbers, website traffic and analytics, sale summaries, social media interactions, receipt of the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation Community Accelerator grant, car show, and upcoming presentations. Deidre Peterson presented the 2"d quarter report for the Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce. Key topics included service numbers, social media engagements, caboose restoration project,visitor information, Google analytics and traffic, and looking ahead. Greg Oldham presented the 2"d quarter report for the North Mason Chamber. Key topics included the request for printed maps, marketing items, visitors, and pumpkin chunkin. Rachel discussed goals regarding PWA, brochures, and educating people around lodging tax. Discussion was had around conferences and tourism. Liz discussed goals around regular programming, speakers, improving permanent exhibits, lighting improvements, window restoration. Deidra highlighted goals around volunteer onboarding and training program and refresh of visitor information centers. Greg will share goals at a later date. Lodging occupancy was discussed and how to focus on the off-season. Public Comment—none Calendar- Next meeting is October 16, 2024 at 9 a.m. and will be held hybrid. The regular meeting schedule is the 3rd Wednesday, 9 a.m. every quarter—January, April,July and October.
