November 4, 2025 -9:00 a.m.
Meeting was held hybrid—in-person and via Zoom. Members in attendance: Chair Sharon Trask, Rachel
Hanson,Duane Wilson, Deidre Peterson,Kerry London Myers,John DeLeva,Taylor Jacobs,McKenzie
Smith,and Christopher Pinkston.
1. Chair Trask called the meeting to order.
2. Review and Consideration of RFP Packets
Services that Support Tourism and/or Cultural Attractions
Total budget is up to $285,929.
North Mason Chamber of Commerce—$55,000
Duane shared that he does not feel sponsoring projects is appropriate. Kerry announced she was
able to reduce rent by$1,000 a month and has subleased to the Economic Development Council
(EDC). Union staff wages are $17 an hour and would increase from three days a week to five
days a week. Consensus was to fund for$45,000.
Mason County Historical Society—$25,000
Duane shared the hope for the Mason County Historical Society to be more grant-funded.
Consensus was to fund for$25,000.
Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce for Caboose—$26,175.17
Deidre discussed adjusting staffing and times for peak season. For example,peak season would
be staffed 5-7 days a week and off season would be staffed 4-5 days a week. Duane requested that
Deidre report when staffing hours are adjusted.
Northwest Event Organizers, Inc.Welcome Center Concierge Services—$145,200
Sharon and Deidre did not feel this request met the RCWs. Other concerns included this not being
a non-profit. Rachel withdrew request.
Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce for Hoodsport—$159,484.87
Deidre discussed increasing hours.
Duane shared concerns about Lodging Tax funding being used for Mason Lake. Sharon added
that if there is no decision today,there is the option to extend current contracts. However, a short
extension would be difficult for contractors. Deidre felt the other proposals did not meet the RFP.
Discussion was had around Visitor Information Center(VIC)visibility,rewriting the Request for
Proposals(RFP). Committee members were asked to come up with a plan for the RFP before the
January meeting. Duane requested projected income and expense for RFPs, if there is none then
the application is rejected. Taylor wants to look at other funding sources as well.
John/Deidre moved and seconded to award Services that Support Tourism and/or Cultural
Attractions RFP funding to Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce for Hoodsport
$159,484.87; Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce for Caboose$26,175.17;North
Mason Chamber of Commerce$45,000; Mason County Historical Society$25,000; and moving
the rest to reserves.Motion carried.
Deidre/Duane moved and seconded to award Director of Tourism Development RFP funding to
Northwest Event Organizers, Inc. $686,000. Motion carried.
