1 This permit must remain on-site and readily available for inspection while any burning occurs
2 Only natural vegetative matter from the site can be burned (Burning Any Other Materials Including those
from Different Parcels is Prohibited)
3 Fires shall not be lit if on-site winds exceed seven (7) miles per hour
4 Smoke cannot create a nuisance, obscure visibility on roads/highways or endanger life or property
5 Piles shall not exceed 20 feet in diameter and have a 10-foot firebreak(to bare soil) around each
6 Each pile shall be at least one hundred (100)feet from any structure and fifty(50)feet from standing timber.
7 Bulldozer or excavator shall remain on-site during entire burn
8 Once lit, a responsible equipment operator MUST remain on-site to provide a 24-hour fire watch until the
burn is complete. No exceptions.
9 If required, the tanker truck or water trailer shall remain on-site for the duration of the burn
10 Once lit, the fire must be completed and extinguished within three(3)days (72 hours).
11 If a burn ban is enacted during the term of this permit, it shall become void, and any burns shall be
extinguished immediately.
12 Prior to lighting any fire, the permit holder shall call both agencies below to report the burn:
-Mason County Dispatch(MACECOM) at 360-426-4441
-Olympic Air Authority (ORCAA) at 360-539-7610
When the burn is complete, permit holder shall make sure the fire has not burned into the earth by checking
13 the ground for hot spots and use any on-site water to thoroughly soak the fire location
OWNER/CONTRACTOR: By signing below, I agree to the conditions identified above on this application and
understand that failure to follow them may result in having to extinguish the fire, revocation of the permit,
suspension of any burn privileges or any other penalties specified in MCC chapter 9.48 or State law. I
understand that as the permit holder(or their representative) I may be liable for damage the fire causes to other
properties, the cost of suppression if the fire gets out of control, or penalties related to other enforcement
actions.

* For burning from April 15th to Oct. 15th,a tanker truck or trailer with 300 gallons of water with at least 200 ft of one inch
hose capable of delivering 20 gallons per minute at the nozzle shall be on site for the duration of the burning and at the time
of inspection unless approved ahead of time by Community Development Staff.

• The following materials are prohibited and must not be burned: garbage, dead animals, asphalt,petroleum products,paints, rubber
products, plastics, paper, cardboard, treated wood, construction/demolition debris, metal or any substance (other than natural
vegetation)that releases toxic emissions,dense smoke,or obnoxious odors when burned.
• All materials must originate from the property on which the burning is to occur.
• The fire must not create a nuisance from smoke,obscure visibility on public roads and highways,or endanger life and property.
• Maximum pile size is twenty(20)feet in diameter,a minimum ten(10)feet firebreak must be constructed around each pile.
• Each pile must be at least one hundred(100)feet from any structure and at lease fifty(50)feet from standing timber.
• Do not bum if wind is blowing more than seven(7)miles per hour.DO NOT BURN IF WIND BLOWING FROM
• A responsible adult and equipment shall be on site and in attendance at the fire while burning. Must provide 24 hour fire watch.
• On Site Water is required for permits between April 15th and Oct. 15th.A pump truck or trailer with 300 gallons of water loaded and
200 ft of hose.(The pump must be capable of pumping 20 gallons per minute through a one inch(diameter)50 foot section of hose.)
• Provide EXCAVATOR/DOZER(with fire extinguisher)on site with qualified operator.
• Fire must be completely extinguished within three(3)days after ignition.
• Fan required.

• It is advisable to pump the entire content of the water tank onto the burn site to assure the fire is completely extinguished. The
permitted individual is responsible for any rekindling on the fire/bum site.
• A BURN BAN when implemented by Fire Marshal will take effect as noted and all permits become null and void.After a bum ban
has been implemented,all fires must be extinguished immediately.
• Permit includes two(2)inspections maximum,additional inspections will require a re-inspection fee. (at current rate)
• Access must be passable with 2 wheel drive vehicle
