I've evaluated the original septic system permit for the aforementioned property, approved
5/18/1989 by John Denison.The permit was approved for a 2-bedroom capacity. The permit
was also approved for the installation of a deep trench drainfield. It was a common practice
during this time period to increase the amount of drain rock installed under the drainpipe and
reduce the amount(square footage) of drainfield required. This permit noted that 40ft. of
drainfield with 36 inches of drain rock was approved. I worked for Mason County Department
of General services in 1986-1987 and was trained by John Denison in approving deep trench
septic systems.
I've evaluated the After the Fact Record Drawing that Thad Bamford prepared for this property
on 5/8/2026. I inspected a section of the drainfield that John Nahaku (owner) uncovered.A
steal pipe was driven next to the existing drainpipe, and 36 inches of drain rock was determined
to be installed below the pipe (see attached photo). I conclude that a 2-bedroom, deep trench
septic system was installed in accordance with the approved 5/18/1989 permit.
Enclosed is a site plan that depicts the location of the septic system that was located Bamford
Septic Repair LLC. This site plan also represents a proposal to locate a permanent residence on
the property.
