X /i°b 4) Logs anchored parallel to beach will stabilize the eroding bank face. Logs parallel to the erosive edge mimic naturally occurring floating logs that are deposited at the high-water level. The logs will contribute new habitat and organic matter and will hold soil moisture to aid vegetation establishment. Logs placed "cross shore"at an angle to the shoreline mimicking a natural environment where trees fall onto the beach and are pushed by the prevailing wind and waves in the direction of drift. These logs will help to slow the movement of beach gravel by accumulating material. Beach nourishment with gravel harvested from the adjacent spit in the lake will be used to replace the lost beach sediment. A wedge of sediment will extend approximately 30 feet onto the beach from the current edge of the lawn. Replacing this beach material will also create a beach slope that is safe and accessible for park users. Planting of native vegetation along the shoreline will aid in long term soil stabilization. The design includes three planting areas with gaps to allow beach access to park users. The selected shrubs are low profile so as not to impede views.
