RESOLUTION OF THE MASON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS CREATING A DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES
AND ELIMINATING SEVERAL OTHER COUNTY DEPARTMENTS
WHEREAS, Mason County has numerous.departments, some
of which provide overlapping and even duplicate services to
the citizens of Mason County, and
WHEREAS, Mason County faces a budget deficit for the
1983 fiscal year, and
WHEREAS, combining the functions of several departments
into one Department of General Services will allow for a reduction
in the budget deficit and will provide more efficient service
to the citizens of Mason County, and will allow for a minimum
number of county jobs being lost.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED as follows: .
There is hereby created a Department of General Services
Mason County. Said Department shall assume all functions
following departments which are hereby eliminated:
1. Parks and Recreation
2. General Administration
3. Consolidated Sewer and
4. Building
5. Planning
6. Environmental Health
All employees in these department shall be laid off as of
December 31, 1982, but shall have priority over all other
persons in the hiring of positions in the new Department of
General Service for a period of one year, and none of these
positions shall be advertised to the general public during
that period until all laid Off employees have been offered
positions in the new department.
This resolution shall takeeeffect December 31, 1982.
