ADDING SECTION TO THE MASON COUNTY CODE WHICH DEALS WITH APPLICATION FEES FOR THE EXAMINATION FOR DEPUTY SHERIFF POSITION THROUGH THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION APPOINTED BY THE BOARD OF MASON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WHEREAS, the need exists for examinations for Deputy Sheriff to establish an eligibility list for future appointments and promotions by the Sheriff; and WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission through its Secretary and Chief Examiner requests the purchase of entry level and promotional law enforcement written examinations from appropriate outside agencies; and WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission has previously entered into appropriate contracts with organizations and persons for the administration of said examinations; and WHEREAS, the Secretary and Chief Examiner of the Civil Service Commission and the Civil Service Commission request the costs for said Civil Service examinations to be paid by the applicants requesting such examination; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of Mason County to have outside examinations and grading of said examinations conducted by independent contracts; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the Board of Mason County Commissioners: Section 1. The attached provision is hereby enacted as Mason County Code Section 2. A copy of this resolution with attached new Mason County Code provision shall be forwarded to the Civil Service Commission for Sheriff's Employees. The Civil Service Commission, through the Secretary/Chief Examiner, is hereby authorized to charge a fee per applicant for the written examination to cover the cost of entry level and promotional examinations administered by an outside agency. The amount of said fee shall be determined by the Civil Service Commission prior to the announcement of each examination and shall be calculated to cover only the actual costs of said examination. The Chief Examiner/Secretary of the Civil Service Commission shall establish the proper accounting procedure with the County Auditor and County Treasurer before commencing collection of revenues. Expenditures for the foregoing personnel services for examinations shall be paid out of the respective budget as adopted by the Board of County Commissioners for the Civil Service Commission. The Civil Service Commission shall adopt any necessary procedures and rules for administering of said examination.
