Both facilities would be open to the public. If we move forward with the shoreline variance process,we would need approval from DOE-SW Regional Office(Pat Bailey)since they have jurisdiction over our wastewater treatment plant. I am very concerned about allowing the general public to use Alderbrook's pump out facility since it would impact Alderbrook's wastewater treatment plant. A dump of bad chemicals(bleach,diesel, etc.)and it could shut down our treatment plant and the resort! Due to the concern of harming Alderbrook's treatment plant, we are also looking into installing a pump out and holding tank at the Hood Canal Marina and applying for a grant with Washington State Parks&Rec. - Boating program. Do you have any experience with this? I understand that the grant, if approved,could pay for a good portion of the cost. If we install a new pump out on the dock at the Hood Canal Marina and bury a holding tank,what would be the restrictions/setbacks? Since we need to be open to the public, we will need to charge because of the cost to pump out the holding tank. Is the cost of using the pump out regulated? I know that the Pleasant Harbor Marina obtained a grant from Jefferson County and they charge$5. Appreciate your assistance. This fuel permit is much more difficult than I expected! What is the nautical distance to Alderbrook Inn from Union Marina? 2. What is the average time to travel by vessel between the marinas? 3. Will both facilities be open to the public? Under Shoreline Master Program 17.50.060 Marinas 8. New marinas,or expansion of existing saltwater marinas which provide moorage for more than ten boats, shall be required to be equipped with easily accessible vessel pump-out and shall provide on-shore sewage and waste disposal facilities. Each marina shall predominately display signs stating that sanitary discharge of wastes is prohibited. Deviation from pump-out requirements on saltwater shall require a Variance. Kim and I agree that the proposal to use Alderbrook pump-out facilities can be possible through the Shoreline Variance process, however, both marinas would need to be available to the public. I apologize for the long delay in completing the meeting notes from your pre-application,they will be sent to you as soon as possible. I have the Shoreline Exemption application (SHX2006-00096)for the barge removal on my desk and will process it in the order it was received. I am running about 20-25 days out. I told her that you were going to contact her. With no sewer near the Hood Canal Marina and (11/20/2006) penny Orth - RE FW: Sewage Pump out r Page Alderbrook having a model wastewater treatment facility,we hope that this condition can be waived. I also asked her if we would need DOE's approval for the removal of the old sunken barge next to the dock at the Hood Canal Marina. We send her some photos of that condition. We filed for a shoreline permit with Mason County on 10/25 for the removal of this hazard. She may ask you about that condition as well.
