RE: Tax parcel numbers 22331-50-00052, 53, and 54
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is in response to a complaint received regarding the above referenced tax parcel
numbers. The complainant alleges that steps are being taken to drain the wetland on lot 54 onto
lot 52. The complainant expressed concern that this action is associated with possible plans to
site a community center on lot 53.
Planning staff has made several site visits to the property. Allan Borden conducted a Resource
Land and Critical Area(RLC) inspection in 1997(RLC97-0078). Scott Longanecker and myself
conducted site inspections in June and September, respectively, in response to the aforementioned
complaint.
The purpose of this letter is to inform parties responsible for Collins Lake Community Club
projects that the wetlands present on the property are regulated by the Mason County Resource
Ordinance. Work within the wetlands or their buffer areas will require review and approval by
the Mason County Planning Department. Regulations have changed since the 1997 RLC was
performed. As such, a new RLC site inspection should be performed to establish the wetland
categories and their associated buffer distances before any regulated work is initiated on site. A
site inspection can be scheduled by contacting Kristin Riebli at(360)427-9670 ext. 281.
At this time, I am not initiating enforcement action. I am requesting that the ditch connecting lot
54 with the culvert not be expanded or enlarged in any way. This letter is simply intended to
inform Collins Lake Community Club members that Mason County ordinances may be applicable
