The following is a list of problems associated with the basement in particular: • There is standing water on the east and west side of the basement floor at all times and during heavy rainfall the water spreads over the entire basement surface. The water and seepage has been in sight since the day we moved in and we were told by you that since the house is"new construction"the water should evaporate, unfortunately,that has not been the case and the situation is only getting worse. • We have stored a lot of our belongings in the basement and due to excessive moisture we have lost(from mold and mildew)about 75%of our pictures(non-replaceable), 90%of Scott's uniforms, several boxes of books and manuals, carpet(in the hallway), four bags and two boxes of clothes,camping equipment(sleeping bag,packed food,tarps,wool blankets, etc.) and all of Scott's softball gear. • Both the mildew and mold have grown and continues to grow on the downstairs' door,the wall,the floor, and under the carpet. The wood framework is also satvtrated with water. It is at the point now that the excessive mold, mildew and moisture is becoming a health hazard. • We have tried to remedy this problem with all of your suggestions(run fans, electric and propane heaters, open windows, crack the upstairs door). These suggestions have been of no effect to try and"dry-out"the basement. While researching this problem we have also discovered that our dimensions for the downstairs from top of slab to the ceiling is 7' 8 1/2",the plans call for standard dimensions of 8'6". This issue needs to be addressed and resolved as well.
