Roots: surface roots are usually not a problem Winter interest: no special winter interest Outstanding tree: tree has outstanding ornamental features and could be planted more Invasive potential: little, if any, potential at this time Verticillium wilt susceptibility: susceptible Fraxinus oxycarpa `Raywood' -- Raywood Ash Page 3 Pest resistance: long-term health usually not affected by pests USE AND MANAGEMENT Reportedly maintains a central leader in youth but only after competing upright stems and branches have been removed. Be sure to space main lateral branches along the trunk and keep internal secondary branches intact to develop good branch structure. This allows each main limb to develop more fully and could increase durability by increasing taper along main branches. Do not allow major scaffold limbs to grow opposite each other on the trunk as this leads to poor structure and eventually could form a weak tree. It should be grown in full sun and is moderately drought-tolerant once established. Although trees can tolerate wet sites, they will perform much better in well-drained conditions. Surface roots can be a problem on wet sites and on clay soil but they otherwise grow in a range of soil from sand to clay. e cultivar `Raywood' has exception:ysed fall foliage and produces no seeds; it iknown as the `Claret Ash'. `Flame' turns burgundy in the fall similar to burgundy.S Pests and Diseases No pests or diseases are of major concern, although possibly borers. This tree is reportedly resistant to anthracnose foliage disease and Ash lygusbug which attacks other Ashes. oN-STATFo MASON COUNTY o P A o N DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT o NU2 Planning Division N i Y 615 W Alder St, Shelton, WA 98584 1864 0 (360)427-9670 MASON COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL PERMIT June 14, 2019 OMAR F MILLER JR tt 1393 E AGATE LOOP RD SHELTON WA 98584 Parcel Number(s): 220075100026 - Expiration Date: 6/14/2021 12:OO:OOA Ylo CMG Date Issued: 6/14/2019 Case Number: MEP2015-00037 Project Description: A& , Re-issuance of MEP on 6/14/19, to expire on 6/14/21 for the Remove of six large fir trees within the Fish & Wildlife Habitat Conservation Area buffer of Timberlake, per Chapter 17.01.110 of the MC Resource Ordinance. We measured the shoreline common line setback from Timberlake and placed two stakes at the building setback. The shoreline setback was determined by drawing a line between the rooflines of the adjacent residences.Staff used the roofline of the covered poch to the south and drew the line across the applicant's property to the furthest projecting roofline, toward the lake,of the residence to the north. The measured setbacks were 63',as measured 20'in from the south property line and 49'as measured 15'in from the north property line.Any portion of the new residence, including rooflines and decks, that is over 30"above average grade must be behind this shoreline setback. The shoreline setback was measured from the ordinary high water mark(OHWM).This is where the upland vegetation stops growing. There is an associated wetland fringe that curves along the edge of the lake and contains a mix of wetland and upland vegetation.Staff took the measurements from the lake edge of this area. The minimum sideyard setback is 20'but may be allowed to 5'with an approved Administrative Variance. The minimum frontyard setback to the road easement is 25'but may be allowed up to 10'with an approved administrative variance. Staff gave you the requirements and applications for the construction of a dock on the site.If you have any questipons, please let me know. Thank God{I will forward pictures my husband took a couple of days ago. In the photos,to get an idea of size of these trees, look at the leaning arbor by the dock and compare it to the trees. The photo with the tape measure is at the eave rebar staking for both houses next to me. On your sketch the three trees to the south are not on my property excepting the large one and it is partially on my neighbors land and she wanted to keep it.Co from the middle of the sketch or property going to the north are all the trees. You gave me one tree for free to cut without planting because of it was so small in diameter a spindly sickly looking pecker pole type, making the total Douglas fir tree removal 7 but one of those are for free by the north side of the fire pit. Thank you, Patty Miller ............................................................................................................................................................. Hi Grace, I thought you told me I could plant 3 native trees or plants for one tree removal. I am not seeing that. I see 6 native trees for 1 tree removal. How do I know if a tree is three years old?Do I need to replant hazard trees also?Where can I find these plants?I do have salmon berries on my property I could transplant there and one Vine maple I know is over 3 years old. On the R.R. tie bulk hea* it was deteriorating and creosoted and was there prior to both neighbors bulkhead. I still have them and could easily be placed back in. I also took photo's and have witnesses of them. I have seen them throughout the county and one property is pending right now with Jeff Conklin on Phillip lake. The tree cutter's name is Cody Morris. I think I told you Marcus, Marcus is a septic guy I am dealing with in Olympia. Sorry,my head is spinning right now absorbing what you told me and not sure if I got it all right. Thanks, Patty Miller file:///C:/Users/gbm/AppData/Local/Temp/XPgrpwise/5CADD89AMasonmail 1001673 76... 4/11/2019 Page 2 of' Patty, I did tell you three because it makes more sense than the 3 in your case. the lot is so narrow. You can design a planting plan using vine maples and other trees that you prefer, as well as bushes and groundcover. Salmonberries will work, as well as oregon grape, etc.. The intent is to enhance the buffer with native vegetation to act as a buffer between your development and the lake. You can design the replanting plan yourself, fill out the application form and submit it with a letter from your arborist and your plan. Submit it to the Permit Assistance Center and 111 review it. I've attached a list of native species. They say 3 years old because they will have a better start. You are not limited to that. We do not want creosote RR tie bulkheads. They are highly toxic to the environment. If you have a photo as evidence that the new blocks showing they were a replacement bulkhead, I would appreciate that for the file. No enforcement action will be taken on the bulkhead. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you. I thought 6 trees with plants. My experience is vine maple is it is as big as mock orange. Is one a tree and one not?Or will they both pass as trees?I called Sound native plants they have everything I want. I called Timberlakes they are on board as long as county signs off with documentation. My brother has a A.A. in horticulture and will refine what I plan. Cool. I am excited. Time frame we'll talk about later. M Patty, Yes, one or the other and I will leave it up to you to propose an amount of trees because they need room so whatever you figure out will work.
