NOTE: The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has reviewed your plans received on April 20 1994 and inspected the site of the proposed project on April 20, 1994 . WDFW discourages the use of pilings, lumber, and other materials treated with creosote and other wood preservatives and recommends instead the use of steel, concrete, or recycled plastic. 1. This pro ect is approved as illustrated in your application subject �o the following provisions. 2 . All manmade debris on the beach at the ro]ect site shall be removed and disposed of upland such that it does not enter waters of the state. 3 . This approval does not authorize the removal , replacement, or driving of any pilings. 4 . This approval is for repair/replacement of the existing structure only and shall not result in expansion of the structure. 5. The pier shall not exceed 80 feet in total length. The solid decked portions of the pier shall not exceed 12 feet in width. 6. Tarps or other means of containment shall be placed beneath the pier above tidal waters to prevent demolition debris from entering waters of the state. 8 . All lumber, and other materials treated with preservatives shall be sufficiently cured to minimize leaching ino the water or bed. 9 . Shavings from lumber and/or other materials treated with preservatives, cut or sawn waterward of the ordinary hi h water line, shall be contained such that they do not enter wa ers of the state. 10. Project activities shall be conducted to minimize siltation of beach areas and bed materials. 11. If a fish kill occurs or fish are observed in distress the gproject activity shall immediatel cease and WDFW Habitat anagement Division shall be notified immediately. 12 . Debris or deleterious material resulting from construction shall be removed from the beach area and project site and shall not be allowed to enter waters of the state. 13 . Water quality is not to be degraded to the detriment of fish life as a result of this project. This project is approved as illustrated in your application, subject to the following provisions. 2 . Work below the ordinar hi h water line (OHWL) shall not occur from March 15 through June T4 o any year for the protection of migrating juvenile salmonids . 3 . In addition, work below the OHWL shall not occur from September 15 through December 31 and from January 1 through March 1 of any year for the protection of surf smelt spawning beds . 4 . The 6 existing pilings to be replaced and the 2 "short" pilings shall be removed in their entiret and disposed of upland such that they do not enter waters of the sate. 5 .
