Septic, Tank and Drain
;eneral
The Contractor shall be responsible for establi_hment of elevations
on all inverts and the bottoms of the sertic tanks. The contractor shall
place the septic tank eo as to allow flag into the tank from the sewage
line as installed by the mechanical contractor. The s,,stem shall function
without the use of nurms.
I. Septic Tank
a. The sertic tank shall be, constructed as shown on the Engineers drawing.
The material used shall be Class F, concrete with 3,000 p.s.i. (28 day)
colmressive strength reinforcing; steel as specified, and manholes and covers,
as specified. Other manholes and/or covers may be used if they are approved
by the desicrdng engineer. The sewage siphon and all other ann_ urtenances shall
be as specified on the Engineers drawing or an approved equal. It is
recorrmiended that the top be cast in place. The method used for construction
must haveprior aprroval by the design engineer.
b. All construction and materials shall be as specified in the applicable
sections of the Standard Specifications for Municiral Public 'Works Construction;
srecifically: , Section 107 (Portland Cement for Concrete Structures) , Section
Ill (Reinforcing Steel) .
c. The fallowing specifications are to be adhered to in addition:
Construction Joints: Only two construction joints will be permitted.
One horizontal Joint at the bottom and one horizontal ,joint at the top.
vertical construction ,joints will not be permitted in the ton. All construction
Joints shall be water proof.
2. Distribution Pox: The distribution box shall be constructed of the same
material as the septic tank and as specified on the engineers drawing. The
cover of the distribution box will be made in such a manner as to provide a water
tight covering on the box.
3 Drain Field: The drain field shall be installed o£ the length specified
on the Engineers Drawinrr. and located where directed by the Architect. The drain
field will be installed as snecified in the "Manual o.` Septic Tank Practice"
:mitten by the U.F. Department of Health, Education and welfare, and any
anplicable county requirements. In addition, the contractor shall not install
the drain field with less than 10 inches of cover and with more than 18 inches
of cover. If a sten down of the drain field is required because of topography,
the terrace stet down shall be as shown on the Engineers drawing. lack rill over the
