SHORELINE EXEMPTION APPLICATION
Shoreline development in Mason County must conform with the Mason County Shoreline
Master Program. The program requires that substantial development (any development of
which the total cost or fair market value exceeds $8,504.00 or materially interferes with the
normal public use of the water or shorelines of the State) be reviewed with the goals, polices, and
performance standards established in the Master Program.
New or expanded docks or beach access structures will likely require a substantial development permit
instead of a shoreline exemption. Consult with a Mason County Planner.

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:
General location (include property address,water body and associated wetlands—identify the name of the shoreline):
The repair project is located in County Road R/W (Dewatto Road M.P. 0.37), where the road crosses
the Tee Lake outfall, over-flow channel at the south end of the lake. Shoreline map is attached.
Include all parcel numbers: Projects located in open water areas, away from land shall provide latitude/longitude.
Project is county R/W. Adjacent nearby parcels include:323355000016 and 323355000015 to the
north (upstream) and 322021390031 to the south (downstream).

Development proposal (identify and describe the proposed project, including the type of materials to
be used, construction methods, principle dimensions, and other pertinent information):
The repair work is to slip line a deteriorated 48-inch-diameter culvert to maintain the roadway and
outfall structure. This will involve inserting a HDPE liner and grouting it into place. Work will be done
during the dry summer period when there is no flow.
Existing Use (identify current use of property with exist improvements):
Existing use is public County Road including a 4-foot-diameter by 84-foot-long CMP cross culvert. A
concrete box and timber plank weir structure at the culvert outlet is used and maintained by the lake
community, and the project will help to preserve and protect the structures from damage and failure.
Reason for requesting development:
The existing structure requires repair for public safety, protection from imminent damage and failure
and to maintain the existing road use.
