We desperately need the bridge repaired before the season begins on April 1. Our plan is to dismantle the planking then pull up the logs and replace them with new logs . Then replace the planking, curbs , and driving planks - just as they are now. We will be extremely cautious because the water and electrical lines are affixed to the downstream side of the bridge and must remain intact. Schumocher Creek will be in no way affected by the work and the work should be completed within five days . We appreciate you help with this matter and hope that the necessary permission and permits can be issued as quickly as possible. I thank you for your kind assistance. . S/C/e &//dcJ Request : Permission is hereby requested to replace the rotted logs and timbers supporting the existing bridge over Schumocher Creek at the Mason Lake Park owned by the Simpson Timber Company. Justification : The log bridge has been in service for the past twenty (plus) years and is showing signs of gross deterioration . The logs will no longer support motorized vehicles and need to be replaced . The bridge unites the east and west portions of the park and is an absolute necessity during the visitor season . The bridge also supports water and electrical lines leading to the park ranger 's residence . Papers have been filed with the county to develop a new and more permanent crossing over the creek but , until such time as approvals are given , the existing bridge must suffice . Vehicular traffic will be rerouted to the new crossing when the crossing is completed . However, the current bridge will remain as a foot traffic bridge and utilities support.
