2009 Washington State Energy Code (WSEC)
Effective January 1, 2011.
Ventilation & Indoor Quality
Ventilation code provisions are now located in the 2009 International Residential Code (IRC), 2009
International Mechanical Code (IMC), & 2009 International Building Code
The following information will be required for the WSEC and ventilation code plan review:
1. Complete the Washington State Energy Code/Ventilation code application located on the reverse side
including information about the project, proposed compliance methods and proposed energy credit(s) listed
in Table 9-1 attached to this form. All dwelling units are required to develop at least one credit from Table
9-1.
2. Include all windows, skylights, sliding glass doors, french doors and any other door with 50% glass or more
on the window and door schedule. Use rough opening dimensions to calculate size. It is always helpful to
list the u-factors of windows and doors, if known. If you do not know u-factors, the plan reviewer will
assume that all window & door glazing will have the required u-factor of the compliance option. When
using the area weighted average methods to comply with prescriptive-path include calculations with
submittal documents.
3. Identify the location and fuel type of the heating system, water heater, location of exhaust fans (bathroom,
laundry, kitchen, etc.) and R-factor of proposed insulation for walls, floors, ceilings, and slabs on the
building plans. Indoor and outdoor lighting shall be high efficacy luminaires that comply with WSEC section
505. To verify compliance, provide lighting information on plans.
4. Questions? Call Mason County Community Development at (360) 427-9670 ext. 352. WSEC compliance

Constant CFM Performance
This WhisperGreen®model features built-in
intelligence called SmartFlow Optimum CFM
Technology.This unique"electronic-brain"lets the fan
do what was once thought to be impossible:perform
at a constant CFM regardless of elbows and other
factors that might hinder performance.Basically,when
a WhisperGreen®fan faces static pressure,Its speed
Is automatically Increased to ensure that the desired
CFM Is actually achieved. This allows the fan to
perform as rated and makes for easier sizing because
the specifiers no longer has to worry as much about
compromising the fan's performance.
Quiet Motor Means Quiet Operation
Panasonic is the first ventilation fan manufacturer to
Incorporate a DC motor in residential mechanical
ventilation fans.The WhisperGreen®series
Incorporates an enclosed DC motor designed for
extremely quiet,energy-efficient operation.The
permanently lubricated motor is also engineered for
trouble-free,continuous run for several years.
SmartAction®Motion Sensor
The SmartAction motion sensor automatically
activates whenever someone enters or leaves the
room.
Variable Speed Control
This fan is equipped with a CustomVent Variable
Speed Control. This allows the fan to run continuously
at a pre-set lower level of 0,30-70 CFM that can then
be elevated to a maximum of 80 CFM when the switch
Is turned on.A High/Low delay timer(adjustable up to
60 minutes),will then return the fan to the minimum
CFM level after a period of time set by the user.
Delay Timer
A High/Low delay timer(adjustable from 30 seconds-
60 minutes),will then return the fan to the minimum
CFM level after a period of time set by the user.
ENERGY STAR®-Qualified for Energy Savings
ENERGY STAR®-qualified products feature super-quiet
operation and high CFM-to-Watt efficiency.The
ENERGY STAR program was created to help consumers
Identify products that can save them money and
protect the environment by saving energy. As an
ENERGY STAR partner, all of our fans are ENERGY
STAR-qualifed and labeled accordingly.
User-Friendly Installation
Detachable 4 or 6 inch adaptors, firmly secured duct
ends,adjustable mounting brackets(up to 26"),
fan/motor units that detach easily from the housing
and uncomplicated wiring all lend themselves to
user-friendly installation.This model also features a
double-hanger bar system for ideal positioning.

This Panasonic fan has a built-in damper to prevent
backdraft, which helps to prevent outside air from
coming through the fan. Also, thanks to our efficient,
cool running motors,it does not create excessive heat.
Loose fill or batt Insulation can be placed directly over
the fan housing to prevent heat from escaping.
