Mason County has reviewed the above referenced application for Class IV General Forest
Practices and finds it in conformance with all applicable County land use regulations in
effect at the time of application.
FINDINGS
The proposed FPA is compliant with the following conditions:

A map has been received that complies with the requirements of 11.05.120:
(I) Harvest boundaries and tree retention areas.

facilities and vegetation to be retained for site landscaping, open space,wildlife

(VI) Critical areas and critical area buffers regulated pursuant to the Critical Areas
Ordinance.
(VII) Drainage ways and culverts.
(VIII) Site area targeted for further harvest including proposed timing.

smaller than one inch to 200 feet.

1) ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESOURCES
Archaeological or historical resources, such as ruins, sites, buildings, artifacts, fossils, or other objects of antiquity that may have significance from an
historical or scientific standpoint, which may be encountered by the developer/contractor, shall not be further disturbed. If the developer/contractor
encounters any such artifacts, he/she shall immediately stop work and notify Mason County and the Washington State Department of Archaeology and
Historic Preservation. Failure to do so may result in civil penalties.
2) STORM WATER & EROSION CONTROL
Escape of silty water or mud from this property shall be considered a violation of County and State storm water management regulations, and could
subject the applicant(s) to civil fines or penalties. This project is represented as disturbing less than one-acre of ground and creating less than 5,000 sq ft
of new impervious surfaces. The contractor shall comply with the 2005 WSDOE Stormwater Manual compliant 12-point best management practices
narrative written by applicant Joshua SchoolerAmidon for this project.
3) SLASH ABATEMENT
This Forest Practice Application indicates that forest debris resulting from the proposed logging operation may create an extreme fire hazard under RCW
76.04.600 and WAC 332-24-650. An extreme fire hazard could be created if one or more of the conditions found in WAC 332-24-650 is located within 100
feet of the running surface of a public road; or is within 500 of an existing structure and/or designated public use area, which is not owned by the owner of
the fire hazard area.
The land owner is fully liable in the event of fire, if he or she fails to appropriately abate the hazard. Extreme fire hazards shall be abated by removing the
forest debris, or by other means approved by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

FPA Construction and SWPPP Elements Narrative
Project Description:
The project involves the partial removal of Douglas Fir timber and clearing on total property
acreage of 5 acres. The clearing (stumped) area will be no more than one acre.The property is located
on NE Blacksmith Dr(private road), parcel #22303-75-00090. Clearing is for future home site. Owner
(currently buying property) wants to keep as much natural vegetation buffer as possible but clearing
trees to a safe distance from home site. Therefore clearing is going to be very selective with as little
disturbance as possible.
A driveway will be cleared for access. Driveway will be approximately 12ft wide and 100ft long.
Gravel will be laid on the driveway.
Soils in the area are sandy loam, sand and gravel, and are well draining.
The project planned start date is sometime in-between Oct. 28`h and Nov. 11th and will take
approximately 2-3days. Actual start date will depend on scheduling for loggers and equipment
availability, and weather.
Logging will be done with faller and excavator to yard and load log trucks. Estimated logs to be
hauled out are two log trucks worth. Stumps and brush will be removed with dump truck.
Expected use after logging will be residential home sites.

Logging area will be identified by trees marked to cut and/or ribboned-off area
Element 2:
Construction access shall occur on gravel driveway approx. 12ft wide by 100ft long (1200sq ft)
Element 3:
Logging will take place on basically level and well draining soils and no increased runoff or erosion is
anticipated. However natural vegetation buffers are in place on the perimeter. Approximately 100ft
between road and logging area, 30+ft on sides of property and over 200ft on back of property. All area
cleared will be covered with straw.
Element 4:
No additional BMP's are proposed.

N/A due to no new road construction or cut and fills

patterns are to remain the same.

NOTE: Copies of all FPA Applications will be forwarded to Mason County Public Works for stormwater and erosion
control review.Projects which disturb more than one acre(regardless of total lot size)will require an engineered
stormwater plan consistent with the Mason County Stormwater Ordinance(Chapter 14.48.)and the 1992 WSDOE
Stormwater Manual(2005 in Belfair&Allyn UGA's).Applicants will be charged for Public Works staff time to review
these plans and applications.
Property owners should also be aware that the Washington State Department of Ecology(WSDOE)might ask for a
NPDES(National Pollution Discharge Elimination System)Permit.The threshold for such a permit is equivalent to
Mason County'sthreshold.WSDOE will notify applicants through SEPA review if a NPDES is required.An NPDES is
not a perquisite for FPA approval. It is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain this permit when required.
