RE: Covered Boat Moorage at Mading Sunny Shore Addition#6, Tract 45, Grapeview.
Dear Long;
It has come to the attention of Mason County Department of Community Development that a
covered boat moorage exists on your property. The Shoreline Master Program chapter 7.16.170
(Piers and Docks) states "Covered boat moorage and over the water boat houses are prohibited
except in marinas. Boathouses on land shall be subject to a maximum size of 600 square feet
and shall meet all setback requirements and require a Substantial Development Permit. "
Covered moorages, whether they are considered permanent or temporary include wood, canvas,
or other material. Only moorages that were in existence before the Master Program, which was
enacted in 1975, are allowed to remain as existing non-conforming development. Failure to
comply with these rules or regulations can subject the owner to fines and/or penalties. Enclosed
please find a copy of the Piers and Docks Chapter 7.16.170 for your information.
Please contact this office at 427-9670, extension 295 within 30 days of receipt of this letter to
discuss this matter. We respectfully request your cooperation in this matter.
Sincerely,
Shandra O'Haleck, Senior Planner

RE: Covered Boat Moorage at Mading Sunny Shore Addition #6, Tract 45, Grapeview
Dear Mr. Long;
The Mason County Department of Community Development would like to thank you for your
quick response to a letter that inadvertently identified your property as having a covered boat
moorage on site. Per our phone conversation this morning it is clear that you do not have a
moorage on your property. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and have
changed my files to reflect this information.
Sincerely,
Shandra O'Haleck, Senior Planner
