Alder St. Bldg.8 Shelton, WA 98584 360-427-9670 ext 352 www.co.mason.wa.us MASON ENVIRONMENTAL PERMIT MEP2022-00018 * Proper erosion and sediment control practices must be used on the construction site and adjacent areas to prevent upland sediments from entering shoreline waters. Erosion control measures must be in place prior to any clearing, grading, or construction. These control measures must be effective to prevent soil from being carried into surface water by stormwater runoff. Sand, silt, and soil will damage aquatic habitat and are considered pollutants. Any discharge of sediment-laden runoff or other pollutapollutants to waters of the state is in violation of Chapter 90.48 RCW, Water Pollution Control, and WAC 173-201A, Water Quality Standards for Surface Waters of the State of Washington, and is subject to enforcement action. Any work in or adjacent to waterways that will adversely affect water quality must receive specific prior authorization from the Department of Ecology pursuant to WAC 173-201A-110. A short-term water quality standards modification may be issued if the proponent agrees to a number of specific construction practices and techniques designed to minimize water quality impacts. All areas disturbed or newly created by construction activities must be revegetated using bioengineering techniques, clean durable riprap, or some other equivalent type of protection against erosion when other measures are not practical. * Monitoring of the installed vegetation will be performed annually for three years following installation. Monitoring will entail inspection of each planted specimen for survival and vigor, and will be performed in August or September of each monitoring year. In addition, two photo points will be established that portray the planting area from each side of the property. A brief letter report summarizing monitoring findings will be submitted to Mason County Planning by 1 Oct of each monitoring year. * Temporary erosion control measures must be implemented to prevent water quality degradation of adjacent waters or wetlands. Silt fencing must be installed and maintained until upland vegetation has become established. * All construction and demolition debris must be removed from the beach after project completion. Proper disposal of construction debris must be on land in such a manner that debris cannot enter or cause water quality degredation of State waters. * Archaeological or historical resources, such as ruins, sites, buildings, artifacts, fossils, or other objects of antiquity that may have significance from an historical or scientific standpoint, which may be encountered by the developer/contractor, shall not be further disturbed. If the developer/contractor encounters any such artifacts, he/she shall immediately stop work and notify Mason County and the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation. Failure to do so may result in civil penalties. * Work must be done in the dry to help prevent disturbance of unstable soil layers and uncontrollable mass wasting. Proponent shall.._.. __r. .._ . ._ .._ .. . .. .... . .. _. . -...,. . .-_.._ .. .. .. e..... . . . .._._ .. . . .._ .__ _ . ... . . * obtain all necessary Federal and State permits prior to the commencement of any work. * Pressure treated wood must be completely dry prior to placement in water. Use of creosote or pentachlorophenol is prohibited. I hereby certify that I have read and examined this application and know the same to be true and correct. All provisions of Laws and Ordinances governing this type of work will be complied with whether specified herein or not. The granting of a permit does not presume to give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of any other state/local law regulating construction or the performance of construction.
