WHEREAS, Mason County recognizes that Mason County Resolution
No. 128-81 and Chapter 16 . 16 . 060 of the Mason County Code should be
revised to clarify extension and renewal procedures for preliminary
and final plats;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the attached proposed
revision to Chapter 16 . 16 . 060 and County Resolution No. 128-81
should be and is adopted by the Board of Mason County officials
effective July 23 , 1984 .

PROPOSED REVISION TO SECTION OF CHAPTER 16. 16.060
MASON COUNTY CODE
(c) Approval-of-the-preliminary-plat-shall-be-effective-far-three
{-��-years-from-the-dates-of-approval-by-the-Board-of-2oanty-Eommis-
sioners;-daring-�ohich-time-a-final-plat-or-plats-may-be-submitted.
A final plat meeting all requirements of this title shall be submitted to
the Board of County Commissioners for approval within three (3) years of
the date of preliminary plat approval. An applicant who files a written
request with the Department of General Services at least thirty (30) days
before the expiration of this three (3) year period may be granted one
one-year extension by the Department upon showing that the applicant- has
attempted in good faith to submit the final plat within the three (3) year
period. The Department of General Services shall notify the Board of
County Commissioners when such an extension is granted. Requests for
additional one (1) year extensions must be submitted to the Department of
General Services, who will submit the request to the Board of County
Commissioners for approval or denial. Such requests must be made to the
Department of General Services, in writing, by the applicant at least
thirty (30) days before the expiration of the previously granted
extension. (New Section) Knowledge of the expiration date and initiation
of a request for extension of approval time is the responsibility of the
applicant. Mason County is not responsible for providing notification of
expiration.
(d) Renewal Procedure: A plat for which preliminary approval has
expired shall be submitted for reconsideration in the same manner as a new
application, provided the required fees shall be reduced by 50 percent and
further provided that such plats shall conform with regulations and
standards in effect at the time of reapplication. (New Section)
(e) Plats without an approved sanitary or municipal sewage works
shall have at least 75 percent of the lots approved by the Mason County
Health Officer for individual septic tanks prior to approval by the
Planning Commission.
(f) Preliminary approval of the County Engineer in all aspects of
the preliminary plat concerning his office and preliminary approval of the
Mason County Health Officer in all aspects concerning his office must be
obtained prior to the preliminary plat hearing.
