AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING
ASSISTANCE FOR SAND HILL PARK
MASON COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES
Resolution authorizing application for funding assistance for an
outdoor recreation project to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation as provided by the Marine Recreation Land Act.
WHEREAS, the Mason County Board of Commissioners recognizes a
substantial need exists for a recreational facility in the Belfair area
and on the 23rd of April, 1979 adopted their Mason County Parks ,
Recreation and Open Space Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Mason County Commissioners have secured a deed and
title to lands in the Sand Hill area from the Washington State Department
of Natural Resources to be used for recreational park purposes; and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act,
state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made
available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and construction
of outdoor recreational facilities of local public bodies; and
WHEREAS, the North Mason Advisory Committee has already undertaken
considerable time and expense of their own to complete Phase I of the Sand
Hill Park development:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mason County Commissioners,
1. That the General Services Director be authorized to make
formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for
fund assistance,
2. That any fund assistance so received be used in Phase II
development of the Sand Hill Park Recreational Complex near Belfair,
Washington,
3. That the County's share for the project come from the 1984
General Services Budget for Capital Construction,
4. That any property improved with financial aid through the
Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation be placed in use as an
outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such use in perpetuity
unless otherwise provided and agreed to by the Mason County Board of
Commissioners, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, and any
federal agency, and,
5. That this Resolution become part of a formal application
to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, and
6. That adequate notification has been given and opportunity
provided for public input and that published notices have identified
affected flood plains and/or wetlands, if applicable.
Adopted by the Board of County Commissioners, of Mason County,
Washington at its regular meeting held May 21, 1984.
