RE: Possible Enforcement— COMPLAINT RECEIVED
Site Address: 1531 NE Tahuya River Rd., Tahuya, WA 98588
Parcel No.: 32212-34-00020
To Whom It May Concern —
It was brought to our attention that multiple storage sheds exceeding 200 sq. ft. and
exceeding the 10 max height have been recently built near a critical area (Tahuya River) at
1531 NE Tahuya-River Rd., Tahuya, WA.
Storage sheds are only exempt from building permits if under 200 sq. ft., not exceeding
10' in post height, and must meet all building code regulations. Although a storage shed may be
exempt from building permits, it must still meet the requirements through the Planning and
Environmental Health Departments.
Please see the storage shed exemption detail along with an exemption list attached for
more details and requirements.
Please contact me regarding the complaint received to discuss your options and to
avoid possible enforcement actions prior to April 23, 2008. If no response is made, a site
investigation will be conducted to determine if any building code violations exist on site. If it is
confirmed that a structure exists that is over 200 sq. ft. exceeding the maximum 10' wall or post
height, a stop work notice will be posted.
If you should have any questions regarding permit requirements and compliance actions,
please contact me prior to April 23, 2008 at (360) 427-9670 ext 356.
Sincerely,
Mindi Brock

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing in concerns of a property address of 1531 NE Tahuya River Road, Tahuya,
WA 98588 with a Resident by the name of Ronald D. Olson and a Business name of
Olson Landscaping.
This resident lives in a Recreational Vehicle Full-Time. He has been a full-time resident
for 9 years now,he also runs his business from his residence. The RV does not meet
county regulations for many different items, including,no water,no proper septic for full-
time use,nor has he been regulated for occupancy by Mason County Fire Marshall, etc.
I have been trying to work with Mason County with these violation to no avail.
It is my understanding from a letter from Mason County Dept of Health Services that
"RV's are meant for recreational use and not intended to be used as permanent dwellings.
The Mason County Fire Marshal and the Washington State Department of Labor and
Industries regulate occupancy and modification of electrical on recreational vehicles as a
safety issue."
I am seeking your help via a proper inspection of the Recreational Vehicle to regulate
occupancy in and effort to enure that all county and state laws are being followed.
I have in 9 years been very discouraged by Mason Countys inability to do their job,
follow through with any found violation, and hold this citizen to the same RCWs and
county codes that we all are held to, all due to the fact that this person"claims"to be
part-time. I as well as my husband, all of our children, and many neighbors up and down
our road can attest of his constant full-time status over the last 9 years, and expect that the
County sees him as a full-time resident.
Please investigate and as Mason Countys Department of Health Services has stated about
Mason County Fire Marshals responsibility, regulate occupancy and modification of
electrical on Recreational Vehicles.
I look forward to the Countys Fire Marshal inspecting and properly regulating the
occupancy at the above mentioned address.
Thank you,
Sandra Peterson-Bindery
