Dear Mr. Howland,
After review of the Flood Insurance Rate Maps and a site inspection
of the property in Tract 1 of Section 27, Township 24N, Range 3WWM
it has been determined that the site for the proposed cabin is not
in the 100 year flood plain.
The site which you have chosen is located between two knolls that
are approximately 25 to 30 feet in height and are approximately 100
to 150 feet from the existing access road. The approximate
landward boundary of the 100 year flood plain is 30 to 50 feet
waterward of your proposed building site. You should show these
elevations on a plot plan that is required in the application for
a building permit .
Due to the above determination your building permit will be
processed as a regular permit versus a permit for structures
located in a flood plain. However, Mason County is not responsible
for damages caused by catastrophic flooding events . Adequate
precautions should be taken to assure that flood waters will not
damage your structure.
