Bullock 1 "aq © E 260 Cranberry Creek Rd. Shelton, WA. 98584 Mr. Bullock; This letter is in response to your inquiry of the fire incident next to your home on October 31, 2002. Fire District#5 and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) where dispatched(see attached Incident log sheet) to a grass fire at the Lyle residence, 221 E. Deer Creek Rd. On arrival, Fire Dist. #5 found a fast moving grass fire approximately 100' in diameter. Fire Dist. #5 and DNR personnel extinguished the fire. A DNR fire investigator,Ray Minish, was also in the area and responded to the scene. It was determined by Investigator Minish that an unattended yard debris fire had caused the fire. Minish made contact with the property owner, Mr. Lyle, and gave him a verbal warning. No other enforcement action was taken by DNR. Part of your inquiry was also to see if there was any appropriate enforcement action that I might be able to take. I was not dispatched to this fire scene so I did not respond. Since a government agency had already made contact with Mr. Lyle and given him a verbal warning, I did not feel that there was any further enforcement action I could take at this time. I made contact with firecom and informed them that if there are any other fire incidents at this site I am to be dispatched. I hope this meets the needs of your inquiry. Please feel free to contact me at my office, (360) 427-9670 ext. 273,if I can be of any further help. Si rely; e . SW out Mason County Fire Marshal
