Dear Mrs. Perry,
The site is located in a Conservancy designation per Mason County
Shoreline Master Program which means that environment in which the
objective is to protect, conserve and manage exist-ng natura_
resources and valuable historic and cultural areas in order to
ensure a continuous flow of recreational bene-fits to the public and
to achieve sustained resource utilization. Compatible commercial
uses are low intensity and low impact activities such as small
camping or picnic facilities ( less than ten spaces ) , aquaculturai
retail booths( less than 600 square feet ) and cottage industries
when the operation is entirely contained within the primary
residence excluding outbuildings, PROVIDED, such commercial
activities must not alter the character of the Conservancy
Environment. I have enclosed copies of the sections of the Master
Program which pertain to the Conservancy designation.
The Recreational Chapter contains a chart of setbacks from the
saltwater for development such as campgrounds and RV Parks. I have
also enclosed a copy of the Mason County Ordinance regulating
Mobile Home & RV Parks with the application and procedure entailed.
The proposal would need to meet all the criteria for RV Park
Ordinance and the Master Program. An RV Park permit would be
required> The permit application would be reviewed by the Planning
Commission and the Commissioners would make the final decision on
approval or denial of the permit. Shoreline Permits would also be
required because the development is within 200' of a designated
shoreline. The proposal would be reviewed for it 's consistency with
the regulations regarding recreational development within a
Conservany designation.
