RE: Skookum Lumber Vehicle Washrack/JWMA#94116
Dear Ms. Bennett-Cumming:
Please find enclosed for your review and approval three sets of plans and supporting documentation along
with I-SEPA checklist for the above mentioned project. Two of the sets are intended to go to Mr. Alan
Tajha at Mason County Public Works Department.
Please note that the location shown for the vehicle washrack is not the same location that we looked at
during your site visit this summer. The site currently shown is already paved, or is within a paved area.
The oil storage building shown replaces an existing building in the same location.
It is intended that in the future the vehicle washrack is used for a vehicle fueling area by installing above
ground fuel tanks on the concrete pad shown on these plans. The existing fueling area, which does not
provide for contained surface runoff, will be decommissioned when the new facility is ready for use. The
placement on the above ground fuel tanks will be addressed as an issue separately from the items addressed
at this time.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or Mr. Tucker Smyth of Skookum
Lumber Company(352-7633).
Sincerely,
Doug Eklund, P.E.

Another question. Do you have the file
for this project? I need to see what
plans were submitted
Thanks.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
1. ok, I am beginning to remember this.
It looks like (BLD96-1359) we permitted
the concrete slab holder for the fuel
tank. There are conditions about
providing for an oil/water separator
with the right capacity etc. I tried
looking at the property file to get
some additional insight, but got
confused because there's so much in
there. But by the conditions on the
above permit, it appears we did know
about the tank, but I don't remember
its actual size. I still am remembering
something about them saying the tank
would be coming later, and this was
just the base upon which it would
stand.
So my (Grace' s, since its now her area
and we talked) only issues would be
that it was as originally intended per
planned placement on stand permitted
under BLD96-1359, and that the size of
the wash rack and oil-water separator
(Alan Tahja reviewed) is adequate, and
that the tank installation be reiewed
by fire official and district. In
other words, your call on the
pre-app. . .
2. So in answer to your second email,
there is a reference to the fuel tank,
but I am going to need to read the
property file in detail (huge) to get a
better picture of what and how, to know
what all was involved, and to tell if
the new app relates. And no I dont have
the file for this app.

Grace:
If this isn't your area, pls. route to
the approp. Planner.
I have received a request from Tucker
Smith w. Skookum to evaluate an above
ground fuel storage tank and dispensing
system. His intent is to include this
project as part of an existing permit
(BLD96-1359) which is a vehicle wash
down facility.
In my opinion, this project needs to
come into the system through a separate
pre-app. process. I would assume that I
there are issues relevant to his
project that go beyond the scope of theiU ZQ
permit for the wash down facility.
If I can get some guidance from
Planning, I'll advise Mr. Smith of the
proper steps.
