Hi Doug,
Here is the bridge elevation information I told you I would send. And some associated
information.
Your bridge site is shown on FEMA floodway map 5301150120 dated May 17, 1988.
The Base Flood Elevation at the bridge location is 41.4 ft NGVD as mapped, i.e. that
particular height above sea level.
The last part - NGVD - means National Geodetic Vertical Datum, and its important to
tell your surveyor that, because the other kind, NAVD, is a slightly different datum
height. Copies of the specific area of the floodway map can be made available to you
and your surveyor and engineer if needed. Our county has adopted the paper map
version, so that is what you would use.
Our regs require that the bridge pass debris etc at a height at least three feet higher,
which means the underside of your bridge needs to clear 44.4ft NGVD. At this height,
when you do the permit catch-up, your engineer will be able to certify that the bridge
meets the right height requirements.
