PRE-APPLICATION CONFERENCE REQUEST FORM
The purpose of the pre-submission conference is to identify and/or eliminate as many potential problems regarding a
proposal. Representatives from the Fire Marshal's Office, Building Department, Environmental Health, Planning, and
Public Works Departments may attend the meeting to discuss rules and regulations applicable to the proposed project.
Topics covered during the meeting may include the comprehensive plan, land divisions, shoreline program, zoning,
availability of sewer and potable water, development concepts, building construction, fire protection and life safety
concerns of the proposed project.The pre-submission conference is intended as an informative meeting. The intent is to
provide detailed information to the applicant in regards to codes and process.
Incomplete applications will not be accepted. If application is deemed incomplete it will be returned.
All Conferences are on Mondays (except holidays)
To schedule a meeting you must complete the requirements for submittal including the required six(6)
copies of detailed site plan(max.size 1 I"x17").
To submit either by mail or in person at: Mason County Permit Assistance Center at 615 W Alder
Street,Shelton WA 98584 by 3:00 PM on the Monday two weeks prior the proposed meeting.

Site Plan Requirements

Include the_following information
❑ Indicate Scale and North Arrow
❑ Property line dimensions, easements, and right-of-ways.
❑ The location of all existing and proposed structures. Include square footage of existing and proposed
structures.
❑ Setback distance, in feet from all property lines and structures.
❑ Existing and proposed road access to and from the site.
❑ Parking sites
❑ Location of on-site sewage tanks and drainfields.
❑ Location of drinking water supply. Include location on the proposed site and surrounding parcels.
❑ Steep slope, wetlands, streams, and bodies of water
❑ Location of fire hydrants and emergency vehicle access roads, including grade.
❑ Surface and storm water run-off routes.
❑ The site plan should be provided on letter(8.5" by 11"), legal (8.5" by 14"), or 11" by 17"(a larger one
could be provided in addition to this).
❑ If there are several buildings on the site and/or proposed, to label each one A, B, C, D, ...
❑ Show EXISTING drainage features (infiltration ditches, retention ponds, etc).

Our purposed project is a water base stain system.We will need to build a building of less than 1000
square feet under and existing building with no structural change to existing structure.This room will be
engineered and designed by Vector engineering inc.we have SDS for the water base stain and UL listing
for the components used for this system. Fire system will be done by Viking Automatic Sprinkler
Company we have our bid from them to add sprinklers in the new room.

• Fire sprinkler system must be extended to the intended use area. A separate permit is required.
• Fire sprinkler system mast be addressed by a licensed Fire Protection Engineer to verify capacity in the
existing system and the coverage needed for the hazard classification.
• MSDS provided at pre-application meeting.
• Fire separation required as outlined in the IBC. Verify this meets the intent of the occupancy classification.
• Provide the location and amount of material used in the spray-coating area. If this exceeds the limits in
Chapter 58 of the IFC, the occupancy classification will be changed to an H-occupancy and additional
requirements will be needed.
• Extend the NFPA 72 fire alarm notification system into the rooms. Separate permit is required.
• Install Fire extinguishers per IFC 906.1. Must be at least 2A 1 OBC rated and one per 75' feet of travel.
• Provide current fire pump, fire sprinkler, and fire alarm records. If they have not been tested in the last
year,testing will be required prior to final.
• Provide NFPA 704 placards on material storage areas and on the exterior door.
Plan approval does not relieve the designer/contractor from complying with all applicable codes and
requirements as adopted by Mason County and the State of Washington, not does it abrogate the requirements
of the requirements of other authorities having jurisdiction.
