Raymond, This letter is in response to your Initial Review Questionnaire (IRQ) . You should be aware that all development applications are subject to an order of invalidity issued by the Western Washington Growth Management Hearings Board, effective January 14, 1999 . The effect of this order is that Mason County will not be able to issue some types of permits until the invalidity is removed. Enclosed is a pubic notice that explains the situation in more detail . You are proposing continue the operation of a wood waste facility that was established by your father some time ago. According to the Mason County Comprehensive Plan your facility is located in a portion of the county that has been designated as being a Rural Area. According to the invalidated Mason County land use matrix (Development Regulations figure 1. 03 . 020) a facility such as yours is considered a Resource Based Industry and as such would have been classified as a conforming land use. If you wish to expand your operation, or seek any addition permits, your next step is to schedule a pre-submission meeting for this project . At that meeting you will meet with representatives of the various county departments who will discuss how your project will be affected by their regulations . I order to schedule such a meeting, please contact Michael MacSems at extension 281 . Thank you. Sincerely, Dave Salzer, Planning Director
