SUPERSEDES RESOLUTION NO . 36-83 , ADOPTED APRIL 18 , 1983 .
A RESOLUTION FIXING THE DATE AND TIME OF THE MEETINGS OF
THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS , MASON COUNTY , STATE OF
WASHINGTON, HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO AS THE BOARD .
WHEREAS , the Open Public Meeings Act of 1971, Chapter 42 . 30
RCW, requires the Board to establish certain rules governing its
periodic meetings;
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT :
1 . 0 The Board shall meet regularly from 9 : 00 a .m. to
approximately 4 : 30 p .m. , on each Tuesday at the Mason County Court-
house Annex II ; except that there will be no regular meeting when a
holiday falls on Tuesday; provided that ,
1 . 1 If a holiday recognized and observed by Mason County falls
on the first Tuesday of January, April, July or October , the regular
meeting of the Board sha1-1 be held on the next business day; and
providing also that ,
1 . 2 If , due to an emergency, it is unsafe to meet at the
Courthouse Annex II , meetings may be held for the duration of the
emergency at such place as is designated by the Chairperson of the
Board; and providing also that ,
1 . 3 The regular meeting of the Board on the third (3rd)
Tuesday of the month shall commence at 7 : 00 p .m. in the Courthouse
Annex II ; except that , subject to the notice requirements of para-
graph 2 . 0 below, such evening meetings may at the Board ' s discretion ,
be held at a location in the County other than Shelton, if requested
by a community organization which shall furnish a suitable meeting
place without charge to the County and if the meeting is intended
for discussion or action on some issue particularly of interest
or importance to the residents of the location as specified by the
organization in its request .
2 . 0 Special meetings may be called by the Board subject to
the notice requirements of RCW 42 . 30 . 080 , including at least twenty-
four (24) hours notice to each local newspaper of general circulation
and to each local radio or television station.
2 . 1 Notice may be dispensed with if the special meeting is
called to deal with an emergency involving the injury or damage to
persons or property and time requirements make such notice impractical .
3 . 0 Adjournments and continuances may be ordered as prescribed
in RCW ' s 42 . 30 . 080/ . 100 .
4 . 0 The Board shall not adopt nor discuss with each other any
ordinance, rule, regulation, order , or directive except in a
meeting open to the public fixed as to date, time, and place as
prescribed above and attended by a quorum of at least two Board
members ; except ,
4 . 1 Only the quorum requirement applies to executive sessions
(RCW 42 . 30 . 110) and those proceedings exempted by RCW 42 . 30 . 140 .
5 . 0 Nothing in this resolution nor in Chapter 42 . 30 RCW
prohibits Board members from traveling together or from gathering
for other purposes than county business nor from individually
discussing county business with other than Board members .
