A RESOLUTION DECLARING SUPPORT FOR THE
HOOD CANAL REGIONAL PLANNING POLICY
AS THE OFFICIAL POLICY FOR GUIDING ACTIVITIES OF THE
HOOD CANAL COORDINATING COUNCIL
WHEREAS , it is the intention of local jurisdictions within the
Hood Canal Region to carry out Hood Canal watershed management in a
consistent and cooperative manner in order to help assure maximum
cost effectiveness of public expenditures and to better achieve
mutually desired planning objectives ; and
WHEREAS , the Hood Canal Coordinating Council of which Mason
County is a member , has adopted a Hood Canal Regional Planning
Policy to use in its efforts to maintain , preserve and enhance Hood
Canal ; and
WHEREAS , the Hood Canal Coordinating Council has fulfilled the
directive set forth in the Washington State Ecological Commission
Report , "The Future of Hood Canal " ; and
WHEREAS , the Hood Canal Coordinating Council is a model for
cooperative inter— jurisdictional efforts and may form the basis for
programs enhancing and mitigating water quality in conformance with
the Puget Sound Water Quality Authority Plan .
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED , that the Hood Canal Regional
Planning Policy be endorsed by Mason County as the official policy
of the Hood Canal Coordinating Council .
FURTHER , that the Hood Canal Coordinating Council will use the
Hood Canal Regional Planning Policy as a guide as it works with
member jurisdictions , State agencies and the Water Quality Authority
on implementing strategies .
FURTHER , that Mason County will work with the Hood Canal
Coordinating Council as it utilizes the Hood Canal Regional Planning
Policy as a guide for implementing programs consistent with the Puget
Sound Water Authority Plan for clean up preservation and enhancement
of Puget Sound .
ADOPTED this 18th day of November , 1986 .
