It is approximately 600' in total length and built to ADA standards. The construction will all be done by hand using powered hand tools. The footings are 5' by 8' gabions filled with 4"-6" clean rock, placed approximately 17' apart. There is also a 24' by 36' educational shelter that is outside of the wetland and lake buffers. See attached Plans for more information. Use(identify current use of property with exist improvements: The property is currently managed by the Frank Family Foundation with the intent to create an environmental education center for local schoolchildren and the general public. A house and cabin are located on the property, as well as a small dock, gravel roadway system, and miscellaneous outbuildings. A portion of the new boardwalk has also been constructed. Reason for requesting development: To build a usable educational shelter and interpretative boardwalk trail to promote environmental learning opportunities for youth to interact with the mostly undeveloped natural area of Cranberry Lake. The boardwalk will connect to a more developed land trail system that would promote sustainable forest use practices.
