Box 1722 Belfair, WA 98528-1722 RE: Landslide Activity Response Site Address: 241 NE Alder Creek Lane, Belfair, WA Project Description: Landslide activity Parcel No.: 12332-50-00906 To Whom It May Concern: In response to recent landslide activity involving your parcel, Mason County has recorded with the Auditors office the attached document. This is standard procedure when the usage of a parcel is temporarily denied or adversely affected due to such circumstances. A site inspection was conducted on December 4, 2007 and a Do Not Occupy notice was posted due to landslide activity. The retaining wall, which is within 10' of the house, and adjacent slope is showing signs of failure due to water saturation. The soils behind the retaining wall and up to the foundation of the house were probed and found to be very soft. There are also steep slopes on two other sides of the house that are also showing signs of failure. It will be necessary to obtain a geo-technical report and all the necessary permits prior to starting any construction or repairs on site or to the existing structure. Downspout drains and the foundation drains for the house need to be tight lined to the base of the slope and the yard, and the slope needs to be covered with clear plastic to help prevent future water saturation. Once the parcel is deemed to have stabilized or if the situation changes on site, further addendum's to this document could be recorded. Notification will be sent to you regarding any further recordings. If you should have any questions regarding this notification, please contact me at (360) 427-9670 ext 356.
