The Pacific Northwest Salmon Center started as a vision —an education and research center on Hood Canal dedicated to enhancing public awareness and knowledge of wild salmon, and a motivated public dedicated to preserving this essential element of our ecosystem. You shared that vision, and you helped us along the way. Your efforts and your financial support to this point have been instrumental in allowing us to achieve our first goal—the acquisition of a vital piece of the Union River Estuary, enabling its preservation for all future generations to come. It is a rare and precious opportunity, and you have had a significant role in its success. On April 23rd, 2008, we will celebrate the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife's acquisition of 54 acres along the Union River known as a portion of the Johnson Property. We invite you to join us in celebrating this key event in the development of an environmental education center on Hood Canal. Get to Belfair by the Seattle- Bremerton ferry; or Highway 16 off of I-5 in Tacoma; or Highway 101 to Highway 3 off 1-5 in Olympia. Roessel Road is mid-way through Belfair, a block North of the Theler Center, and a few blocks South of the main intersection with Safeway and the Chamber of Commerce.
