Separation of the Thurston Mason Joint Judicial District RESOLUTION NO. 70-86 A RESOLUTION concerning separation of the Thurston and Mason Counties Joint Judicial District . WHEREAS , in Chapter 76 , Laws of 1986 , the legislature authorized separation of the Thurston and Mason Counties Joint Judicial District , with one Superior Court judicial position to be created in Mason County and five Superior Court judicial positions to remain in Thurston County , effective January 1 , 1987 ; and WHEREAS , the legislature specified in Chapter 76 , Laws of 1986 , that the legislative authorities of Thurston and Mason Counties must document their approval of the additional judicial position and their agreement that they will pay out of County funds , without reimbursement from the State , the expenses resulting from the passage of Chapter 76 , Laws of 1986 ; NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MASON COUNTY as follows : Mason County approves the Mason County Superior Court judge position authorized by Laws of 1986 , Chapter 76 , and agrees to pay out of county funds , without reimbursement from the state , the expenses resulting from establishment of that position ; provided that one-half of the salary of the Mason County Superior Court judge shall be paid by the state as specified by Article 4 , Section 13 of the Washington State Constitution and further provided that Mason County shall receive reimbursable costs from the Department of Corrections as provided by 72 . 72 RCW.
