Alder Street Indemnification and Hold Harmless Agreement Permit Number: COM2024-00060 As the owner of the property/structures located at: Address: 39580 N US Highway 101 Liltiwaup, WA Assessor's Parcel Number: 324120063000 1 agree to the following conditions and indemnification/hold harmless agreement regarding the reroof construction permit being issued by the Mason County, Community Development Department. I specifically and expressly understand that for the purposes of reroofing under this permit the structure is required to be weather tight. I am applying for an alternate methods approval pursuant to the International Building Code (IBC), Chapter 1, Section, 104.11 (As Attached) I further understand that the following conditions are a requirement of this approval: Durability: The Engineer of Record shall confirm: • Effectiveness of the roof from leakage, as it would normally have underlayment, may be compromised. (underlayment is required per chapter 15 of the 2021 IBC) Strength: (Report by a Professional Licensed Engineer) A qualified Professional Engineer shall complete a report with the following information: • The existing framing, weight of new materials, attachment, and imposed loading including, but not limited to dead/live loads and snow loads is adequate. • The report shall include a structural evaluation addressing the lack of structural sheathing be installed. • The report shall include an evaluation of long-term impacts, if any, of the framing to wet/dry weather conditions and/or moisture in absence of the underlayment. • That the use of an alternate method, i.e. no roof underlayment poses no specific safety concern for structural integrity. Fire Resistance: • That the materials being applied meet the requirements for a Class C roofing materials pursuant to the IBC. The Engineer can attest to this in their reports. As the owner, I agree to these conditions and understanding that my construction method does not constitute a weather tight reroof application under the provisions of the International Building Code (IBC). It has been explained to me that weather tight construction is a code provision for a reroof; I understand that I have asked for an approval for an alternate method which specifically allows for no underlayment in this case with conditions as outlined and I take responsibility for elimination of weather proofing for the purposes of this permit issuance and those conditions set forth in the approval. F E I understand that the indemnification provided herein constitutes my acceptance of all conditions and approvals under this construction permit. I agree to comply with the conditions of approval and provide all required documents, reports and inspection data that is required for this approval and final completion of the work under the conditions set forth in the approval. As the legal owner, I shall defend, indemnify and hold the County, its officers, officials, employees and volunteers harmless from any and all claims, injuries, damages, losses or suits including attorney fees, arising out of or resulting from the acts, errors or omissions of the owner in performance of this construction permit issuance and subsequent performance of the construction using the alternate methods and or materials as allowed and agreed to herein.
