Dear Ms. Miller-Crowley:
We have received your request for review of the above proposal and offer
the following comments:
The Department desires to provide safe access to the State highway
system for this proposal along with operating conditions that adequately
serve the needs of the general traveling public. The property
currently has wide open access to SR 3. The Department suggests one
Type "D" commercial access to the State highway along with a ditch,
curbing, or other type of barrier along the property line to define
traffic movement. The applicant has been provided with an
instructional letter and permit application which should be submitted to
the State Highway Superintendent's office at 4590 State Highway No. 3
SW, Port Orchard, WA. 98366, telephone 478-4664. Personnel at the
Superintendent's Office can assist the applicant with filling out the
permit application if needed. Details of road approach construction will
be determined during the permit application process.
Existing surface water runoff from the State highway right-of-way must
not be impeded by development of the proposal.
The Department will not be responsible for noise attenuation if the
subject property experiences noise levels in excess of the maximum
allowed for the proposed land use.
Advertising signs visible from an adjacent State highway must comply
with the State Scenic Vistas Act of 1971, which is administered by the
Department. For information regarding the signing regulations,
contact the District 3 Traffic Operations office at 753-7221.
Thank you for the opportunity to review the proposal. If there are any
questions regarding our comments, please contact the District 3 Project
Development Support Engineer's office at 753-1901.
