TAHJA, P/W - Hydraulic Engineer SUBJ: JOHN JOHNSON Grading review GRD 95-0030 Christine, I've reviewed the road relocation/grading proposal by John Johnson and find the proposal appears to conform to standard grading practices of the UBC Chapter 70. I support the features of ditch slopes and shoulders being less than 2: 1 (H:V) , and seeding the denuded areas (including abandoned roadbed) with grass after completion of the work. The swale down a 12% slope should be either rock armored or replaced with a pipe. Slopes exceeding 5% have difficulty maintaining vegetation during high flow events. There is not enough information here to accurately determine the volume of grading that will be performed, but I have little reason to doubt the estimate provided by the applicant. I feel the proposal shows enough environmental concern to make the proponent creditable, and I see nothing in the proposal that gives me cause for concern. Sincerely, 4, :- ALM A.
