I just requested an update. Phase 1 of the Olympic Heights subdivision (near Olympic College) submitted a land use application with the City and is proposing to complete a water line extension project from the Upper Mountainview reservoir system to remove the dead storage from the Mountainview reservoir which should add capacity for their development and potentially some capacity for additional lots in the pressure zone. We should know if there is any additional capacity for others to connect to the system in the next month or so. Long term, future phases of the Olympic Heights subdivision will be constructing a new 750.000 gallon Mountainview Reservoir per the 2023 Water Comprehensive Plan to serve their project and the ultimate buildout needs in the Mountainview pressure zone. Currently we do allow some limited connections to the existing water system for single family home lots adjacent to an existing waterline and for some expansion of existing uses, but not for new subdivisions without completing some system improvements. The system is seeking approval to become a new Group A Community water system that will serve 14 full time single family residential connections. The developer has met with Kell Rowan, the Mason County Building Department Head, who has assured the developer that they would push for the water system approval, as connecting with the City of Shelton would be cost prohibitive for the client as well as untimely. Correspondence from the City shows that they are currently prioritizing other development for water connections and major infrastructure installation would be required to reach the developers future subdivision. The proposed well site is located on the undeveloped 40 acre parcel #320082100000 and is accessed through parcel#320053300041 off of E Johns Prairie Rd. The proposed well location is 120 ft south and 110 ft east from the northeast comer of the parcel#320082100000. The 100 ft SCA will be entirely within the parcel. Future development will be 200 ft plus away from the well site and will also pose no potential risk to the well. Should you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely, NORTHWEST WATER SYSTEMS, INC.
