Representatives from the Fire Marshal's Office, Building Department, Environmental Health, Planning, and Public Works Departments ln�a attend the meeting to discuss rules and regulations applicable to the proposed project. Topics covered during the meeting may include the comprehensive plan, land divisions, shoreline program, zoning, availability of sewer and potable water, development concepts, building construction, fire protection and life safety concerns of the proposed project. The pre-submission conference is intended as an informative meeting. The intent is to provide detailed information to the applicant in regards to codes and process. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. If application is deemed incomplete it will be returned. I am writing to check on the status of the variance Mitchell Lumber applied for on June 1st. We were initially given a 4 month timeline which we are fast approaching. I understand how busy and buried under work the planning department must be right now and I completely understand. Mitchell Lumber Co is experiencing the same problems. It's no secret that we are adding a crazy amount of single and multi-family units in this county, and I intend to be ready to serve the growing population. In order to better serve the local community and building industry in Mason county we are planning an expansion of the lumber yard in Belfair. We plan to add approximately 1.5 acres of usable yard,to include up to 10,000 additional feet of warehouse and shop/warehouse space. This will effectively double, possibly triple the volume of business that my company can take on. It will also create jobs and revenue in the community. I have secured $1.25 million in financing for this expansion; I have bids for pre-engineered metal buildings, and have started taking bids for site development. I have submitted a habitat management plan and a local engineering firm has prepared a stormwater management plan as well. The following permit and variance request are currently with the planning department: M EP2021-00009 VAR2021-00002 The variance I am asking for will allow me to connect my existing lumber yard to the proposed expansion with a driveway to be used by my vendor's delivery trucks and my forklifts. This driveway is a necessary part of my expansion.The driveway will briefly pass through the stream buffer located at Mindy Creek. The habitat management plan prepared by Ecological Land Services is simple and easily performed. For 30 years Mitchell Lumber Co. has been a strong community member and a good steward of the environment and I plan to continue the practice for 30 more years and beyond.
