RE: Structure fire, February 28, 2009

Dear Raymond Family:
A site inspection was conducted at the site described above on March 3, 2009 to investigate a fire that
damaged the metal carport building located at the site and items inside the structure.
During the site inspection the Mason County Building inspectors found the following:
A Site inspection was performed by L Waters and D Coker on 3.3.2009. A correction notice was
not posted. Staff observed a fire-damaged building and 250 gallon LP tank located adjacent to
the fire damaged structure. Tina Brown, occupant of the dwelling located at the site was notified
that permits are required to replace the structure and for the 250 gallon LP tank. She was given
an LP tank handout, exemption list and exempt storage building description for review.
This notice is sent to remind you that the damaged structure needs to be removed and to let you know
that permits are required to replace the damaged structure. If the structure is not removed within 60
days it may be necessary to deem the structure as dangerous forcing Mason County to begin
enforcement actions in accordance to Mason County Code Title 15.13. Mason County staff is available
to assist in obtaining the necessary building permits. In addition a building permit is required for the 250-
gallon LP tank located at the site. During the site inspection the inspectors found that the LP tank was
not connected to anything.

On 2/28, FD 5 responded to a structure fire at E 681 Spencer Lake Road. Fire involved a travel trailer&
an ATV.
Appears to have been a leaking 20# propane tank.
While there, I noticed a large propane tank adjacent to the site of the fire. Occupant does not know if
permit was taken out.
