Dear Mr. Commissioner,
I am applying for a building permit to construct a
retaining wall on the property line of Lots 85 and. 84
of Div. 3 Beards Cove in Belfair.
This wall is necessary to prevent further erosion of
the bank separating the two properties . If the wall
is not constructed , the bank will continue to erode
resulting in the exposure of my foundation.

The Mason County Building Department authorizes you to make
immediate repairs to the structure identified above as follows:
1 . Remove existing retaining wall and fill and proceed to replace.
2 . Repair perimeter drain around residence
These repairs must begin immediately. The building permit will
need to be obtained after construction has began when the permit
processing has been completed.

A. SOME DOORS OF THE HOUSE WERE NOT OPENING AND CLOSING CORRECTLY,
THE JAMB' S AND FRAMING WERE OUT OF LEVEL IN AREAS.
B. THERE WERE SOME AREAS OF TEXTURE CRACKS AND EXPOSED NAILING
IN THE FINISHED WALLBOARD.
C. THE . ' FLOORS WERE CREAKING IN VARIOUS AREAS , AND SLIGHTLY OUT
OF LEVEL IN AREAS.
D. TIE PROPERTY HAS OCCUR':ING EROSION AND LACK OF SOIL RETENTION.
NOTE:
THESE NOTE ) DEFECTS COULD BE RELATED TO SOME UNEVEN
SETTLEMENT IN THE. STRUCTURE, DUE TO SOIL CONDITIONS ,
LACK OF PROPER DRAINAGE , AND EROSION CONTROL .
THE PROBLEM SHOULD RECEIVE IMMEDIATE ATTENTION TO PREVENT
FURTHER STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS .
I RECOMMEND THAT A SOILS/AND OR A STRUCTURAL ENGINEER BE
CALLED FOR FURTHER EVALUATION AND CORRECTIVE METHODS OF
RE-iOLVING THIS PROBLEM. I FURTHER R':i.OMMEND THAT THE
SELECTED ENGINEERING FIRM PREPARE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
FOR COUNTY OFFICIAL APPROVAL, AND THAT CONTRACTOR PREFORMING
WORK OBTAIN ALL NECESSARY PERMITS.
