Systems with heavy hrteemit mnt flows(churcly vumtivu humc,cW.)may uccd larger pump taalm to accommodate surges for buffering with low flow periods. • Minimum pump tank size should be 100t1 gallons. • pump tanks must have two 24"risers—one over each end of the teak—for proper Pumping and soma. • Choose a low-flow,high heed pump.A%by turbine pump with a 10 GPM flow resrictor is ideal for most Glendon sites, A pump vaulUPlow inducer with an inlet at la"and integrated hose assembly for reliability and maintainability is recommended. The 18"height prevents solids accumulation in the pump tank from being sucked into the pump and moved into the SioFilter. Solids WILL accumulate in pump tank, • Pump discharge line should have an accessible won valve and ball valve. • If pumping to an uphill BioFilter, the discharge line should have a check valve installed • If pumping to a downhill BioFtlter, the discharge line should have an antimsiphon valve installed. • Set alarm level high to provide maxim un storage capacity between doses. Depth is determined by the thickness of the vegetation and should be no greater than 8 inches. The goal is to loosen the maned layer. 5. Soil preparation process—A spring-loaded agricultural chisel plow is the implement of choice because it is less likely to smear the soil.Am implement attached to a backboe bucket that reaches m to preferred to driving over the basal area. Hand-spading the surfs,,is also an acceptable alternative and may be the profaned method on some sites.Rotmilling is W an acceptable substitute and n2aL4.pCI be used. 6. Soil Moisture Content—The important point is that a tough, unstneared surf m should be left, especially m fine textured soils. Careful observation is required to assure that the soil moisture content is not too high so that the soil surface is not smeared by the action of the soil preparation process.Preparation should not proceed while the soil moishme content is too high. The finer tea sed stills should rent be too dry, either,as the preparation process will pulverize it, destroying the structure.
