Resource Lands & Critical Area Site Evaluation
12/10/2002 Case No.: RLC2002-00111
Comments A field inspection of the subject property was conducted on
12/9/02 to examine slope stability and determine what, if any,
special studies would be necessary to satisfy planning department
concerns relative to the Landslide Hazard Areas chapter of the
Mason County Resource Ordinance.
The parcel is sparsely vegetated with primarily Himalayan
Blackberry, mixed herbaceous composites and small Willows (< 5'
in height). The parcel slopes gently toward the west, then more
abruptly to the roadside ditch that fronts State Route 3 in the
Belfair Urban Growth Area. No portion of the slope is greater than
10' vertical height and exceeds 40% grade. No evidence of slope
instability was observed during the site inspection. No
conspicuous evidence is present to warrant the requirement for a
geological assessment or geotechnical report at this time. Should
site conditions change whereby evidence of instability became
apparent then this requirement could be enacted. If you have
questions or require clarification on these issues, please contact
me.
