Property has an abandoned residence in disrepair with no residential use. Power and water to the property have been disconnected.
Existing improvements include the abandoned home(-1 100 sq ft) covered patio(---120 sq ft),concrete slab(-120 sq ft)
and a collapsed garage/outbuilding(-840 sq ft).

The site has been acquired to function as a wetland mitigation site.All structures on the property will be demolished and removed,
and the site will be replanted with native vegetation to restore the wetland buffer. The house is approximately 30 ft x 38 ft and the
garage/outbuilding is approximately 28 ft x 30 ft.Abatement of hazardous materials will occur first and then the structures will be
removed using an excavator and dump trucks. In total—2,200 sq ft of structres will be removed.Mechanical and hand clearing and
grubbing rubbin will occur on—0.62 acres to remove invasive species. Approximately 0.74 acres will be replanted with native vegetation.

RESTORATION PLANTING PLAN

Shrub material will be installed on 6 to 8 foot centers depending on location, plant stock availability and
budget. The driveway area will be 8 foot on center due to the existing plant canopy, narrowness of the
planting area and the need to continue to access the site through this area. The remaining portion of the site
will be planted on either 6 or 8 foot on center.
Planting Instructions
Site Preparation:
Complete leveling and final grading of the project site.
Weed Control:
Blackberry: Use the heavy equipment on-site for shallow grading and clearing to compact and ball up the
blackberry vines. Rip the soil to a shallow depth to remove roots. Complete additional hand-work to remove
as many of the remaining roots as possible.
Plant Inspection
Examine all plant material for general health and for any damage that may have occurred in shipping. Broken
branches that can be cleanly pruned should be removed; if trunks are broken the plant should be rejected.
Bareroot stock should have firm and moist roots with actively growing tips. Extra-long roots can be pruned to
fit in the planting hole. For container plants inspect a selection of plants by removing the pot and examining the
roots. Plants should be fully rooted with roots reaching the sides from top to bottom but without circling or
coming out the bottom. If circling roots are present they must be straightened or pruned before planting. Plants
that pull out of the pot but leave soil behind are not ready for transplanting. Roots should be firm, moist and
actively growing. Poor quality, diseased, or damaged plants should be rejected.
Planting Guidance
Plant native species in the existing soil. Minimize disturbance of existing native vegetation or their root
zones. Dig the hole twice as wide and just as deep as the roots. For container stock the planting hole should
be roughly twice the diameter of the container.
Container stock: After digging the hole, loosen and uncoil or slice circling or twisted roots to
encourage root growth outside of the potting soil. All container plants need to have the top of the
soil/root mass planted flush (if no mulching) with or slightly higher than the soil surface, and
have a suitable backfill material firmly compacted around the root mass.
Bare root plants: Roots should be fresh and plump, not dry and withered. Store bare-root plants
in a cool, shaded environment with roots covered by moist (but not soggy) mulch or sawdust and
not exposed to air. Mound the earth in the middle of the hole and gently spread the roots over it,
ensuring that the root tips point downwards. Backfill the holes and make sure all the roots are
covered with soil and that there are no large rocks or big air pockets in the hole that would allow
roots to dry out.
*Mulching: After planting, add a layer of mulch 2-3" deep (medium sized shredded bark or non-
cedar wood chips) to reduce weed growth and retain moisture. When using mulch, avoid letting the
mulch come in contact with the stem.

Maintenance:
Due to its perennial nature, any re-growth of blackberry will need to be dug or hand cut repeatedly to
exhaust the starch reserves in the roots which supplies the energy needed to re-grow.
