Dear Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan,
The City of Tacoma, Department of Public Utilities, Light Division (Tacoma Power) was recently
contacted to review the enclosed engineering drawings by MET Engineering, dated May 9, 2022, for
the after-the-fact permitting of emergency repairs that were made to the outer float of the dock
structure under License No.488 (Figures 3 & 4). Tacoma Power allowed the temporary repairs with
the expectation that you will continue the permitting process which will include removal or
reconfiguration of existing unpermitted shoreline structures and/or construction of new shoreline
structures which comply with the Cushman Shoreline Management Plan. As a show of good faith,
you have removed the following accessible non-embedded prohibited structures: kayak rack, bench,
swing, and firewood storage. Non-embedded concrete anchors will be removed from the lakebed
once they are accessible.
The work occurred on Tacoma Power's Cushman Hydroelectric Project lands fronting your
development lot No. 20, Plat of Lake Cushman No.3 (CPN: 42318-50-00020) at 90 N Sundown Dr.
Hoodsport(Figures 1 &2).Tacoma Power has no objection to you moving forward with required after-
the-fact regulatory permitting for the temporary repair activities which occurred on Tacoma Power
Property.
Future proposed actions will require issuance of a new short-term license from Tacoma Power before
any work occurs on Tacoma Power property waterward of 742 feet elevation, and a Shoreline Use
Permit once work is completed.
Please provide a copy of this letter to the regulatory agencies when you submit your plans to them.
