Because of changes that have since been identified, the plans will need to be resubmitted. As discussed, I wanted to memorialize the specifics as they relate to project that will need to be clarified. They include the following items: • Water Meter Size: You indicated the calcs are predicated on a 5/8" meter however in my discussions with Dale Webb at the Belfair Water District (CC'd here), it sounds as if they will be served by a W Neptune meter. That would also be my preference as the friction loss is significantly less and given the available pressure, every PSI will help. I also believe Dale will be able to provide you the cut sheets for this meter to give you the exact pressure loss. • Domestic Flow Allowance:You indicated each system will be equipped with a Moen "Smart Shut-off Valve" to isolate the domestic from the fire sprinkler if there is an activation, thus avoiding the need to include a 5 GPM domestic allowance in the calcs (NFPA 13-D 10.4.9.2-4-b). Please note that Dale advised me that each lateral will be go through a tee to serve two parcels which will trigger the need to include a 5 GPM allowance in the calcs for each system. • Providing Continuous Flow to Prevent Stagnant Water: As designed, the system "Tee's" off from the domestic which will most likely result in the water in the system becoming stagnate and posing a cross contamination hazard. It is my understanding that the Belfair Water District only allows combination sprinkler systems which should be confirmed with Dale. I suspect the result will be a need to redesign the system to satisfy this requirement. In the interest of avoiding any delays, I would ask you apprise both Dale and I once these items are addressed (and before you resubmit any sprinkler plans) so I know before plan checking. If you have any questions or feel I misrepresented anything we discussed, please do not hesitate to contact me.
