Dear Mr. Grant :
Three or four weeks ago you was found in violation of Chapter
3, Section 301 of the Uniform Building Code ". . . It shall be
unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to erect, construct ,
enlarge, alter, repair, move, improve, remove, convert or demolish
any building or structure regulated by this code , except as
specified in Subsection (b) of this section, or cause the same to
be done without first obtaining a separate permit for each
building or structure from the building official". This violation
occurred when you reroofed the Crystal Apartments in Allyn. I
feel I have let sufficient time go by so as you could have
obtained your permit. Thus, I am enforcing Chapter 3, Section
304 , paragraph 2 , of said Uniform Building Code " . . . An
investigation fee, in addition to the permit fee , shall be
collected whether or not a permit is then or subsequently issued.
The investigation fee shall be equal to the amount of the permit
fee required by this code. The minimum investigation fee shall be
the same as the minimum fee set forth in Table No. 3-A. The
payment of such investigation fee shall not exempt any person from
compliance with all other provisions of this code nor from any
penalty prescribed by law".
The valuation of work being done was $2, 040.00, thus the
permit fee is $38.50 plus the penalty fee of $38. 50. Your total
amount is $77.00. If this is not resolved within ten (10) days
the matter will be turned over to the Prosecuting Attorney.
