This Permit is issued subject to "Minimum Requirements and Standards Regulating Sanitary Sewage
Disposal" of the Thurston-Mason District Board of Health.
MAINTENANCE OF THE 5h PTIC TANK
1. Remove the bottom sludge layer every 2-5 years or when it is 18-24 inches deep.
2. Use detergents in moderation or as directed.
3. Use only standard toilet paper. Dispose of such wastes as hand towels, newspapers, rags,
rubbish, coffee grounds and garbage in your refuse can.
4. Do not pour quantities of grease down the drain since it does not dissolve in the tank and
tends to clog the sewer line.
5. Do not permit large quantities of disinfectants or lye to enter the tank; large quantities
will tend to destroy the bacteria that promotes the septic action.
6. Direct the roof drains away from the drainfield.
7. Do not plant shrubs or trees within ten (10) feet of the drainfield line because roots
will disrupt field.
