Inspectors noted that this site experienced severe erosion. As a result, soils were deposited around the site about 2 to 3 feet deep. Two sheds were damaged and the crawl space under the house was filled with water. The crawl space was still filled with water at the time of the inspection, which was caused by heavy rains on December 3, 2007. It is unknown the amount of damage done under the house. Most likely the floor insulation will need to be replaced. You have been given approval to begin emergency construction in the absence of a permit with the intent to apply for the required permit(s) within one week of the date of this letter. Emergency repair work is necessary due to damage caused by the storm. Pursuant to Mason County Code, Title 14 Building and Construction, a permit and final inspection for repair and replacement work is required under the 2006 International Building Code. In order to bring this site into compliance, it will be necessary for you to apply for the appropriate after-the-fact repair permit. Additional permits may be required to be obtained due to this permit. Failure to contact our office to make the necessary arrangements will result in enforcement actions.
